If you install any beta or RC version, NVDA will regularly check and prompt to update you to any new beta or RC build, including for future NVDA releases. The last RC build for any given NVDA version is identical to the final release.

The main difference is that instead of the last RC build updating to the final build, you will stay on the RC build. When a beta of the NEXT version comes out, NVDA will prompt to update to it.
